This is frustrating because you can see the flap in the door you need to replace, however, a searchable name or part number can be missing completely. Measuring You Pet
Before purchasing a pet door, you should take a second and get some basic information about your pet's size. When selecting a pet door there are a couple of rules to keep in mind: You want a pet door to clear the top of your dog or pets back by 1.5 to 2 inches. You also want the step over height to be easy for your pet now and when they are older. Keep in mind some breeds will have arthritic or mobility issues later in life. Choose a pet opening that will be wide enough that they will not scrape the sides and tall enough to provide the clearance above their back and easy step through. Measuring for a Patio Pet Door
 Purchasing a Patio Pet Door Insert is a great solution for customers who want to use the sliding doors in their home to let the dog or cat out.
Measuring for a Patio Insert is simple. Open your sliding glass door, measure from the deepest part of the channel (On the floor) to the very inside of the channel at the top. You want the greatest height measurement. Often a thin rail is found in the channel on the floor. You will want to ignore that rail when making your height measurement. Patio Pet Doors will straddle this centering rail. (There are a few instances when this centering rail is very wide...greater than 5/8"). If the center rail on the floor is wider than 5/8", then you will need to consider an alternative pet door solution, as no patio insert will fit properly.
