Pet Mate Electronic DoorsKnown as Dog Mate and Cat Mate
The Pet Mate Electronic Pet Doors are some of the most reliable cat and dog doors made. The doors themselves are identical, the only difference is the size of the collar tags. There are special tags for cats and larger tags for dogs. The Pet Mate electronic will control access into the house, but allow any animal to leave (Controlled access is in one direction).
The Dog Mate and the Cat Mate Large are identical in size an function. The Dog Mate uses slightly larger collar tags than the Cat Mate model. You may use the smaller cat as on the Dog Mate model when small dogs and cats are using the same door. All Cat Mate models come with the smaller 'cat' tags.
Note: The reason that the collar tags are sized differently for cats versus dogs is because dogs tend to elevate their heads more when using the pet door than a cat will. For this reason, the dog collar tags are a slightly larger magnet to activate the unlocking mechanism. The Dog Mate comes with 2-Large Collar Tags and the Cat Mate models come with 2-Small Collar Tags.
You may use small collar tags for small breed dogs, but to be sure we recommend that you use the appropriate collar tags for your type of pet. All collar keys work with all doors (interchangeable).
