Cat Doors - Cat Flaps

Cat Doors or Cat Flaps  come in a wide variety of designs for the cats, from traditional cat flaps, to electronic, magnetic and infra-red controlled access pet doors. Most standard cat flaps are designed for cats 12lbs and under, there are larger cat doors made such as the Hefty Cat, Hale Small/Medium, and others. Make sure to test the flap size to find out if the opening will be large enough for your cat.

Many people have multiple pets using pet doors, cats and dogs, both going out the same opening. In general cats can use the same pet doors as dogs with very little trouble. They typically just go through at the corners and there is not an issue with multiple pets and size ranges. 

Note:  When viewing electronic doors for cats, please not that most are designed to keep out other neighboring and feral cats.  The exception to this is the Cat Mate Elite RFID Series cat doors and the Solo Automatic pet door.  These two models are the only doors that will control access in both directions as well as offer a Raccoon proof opening.

General Cat Flaps (Free access, flexible and rigid flaps w/slide in locking panel) Often customers will use a flexible flap door for their pets. For the most part these doors provide a better seal than traditional catflaps. They also allow access for multiple pets as in the case where cats and dogs will use the same door. Cats for the most part can use any type of pet door (except for heavy rigid flap doors). They can even use pet doors that are larger to accomodate dogs and cats together.
