These in ground containment and pet fencing systems include the industry standard 20 gauge wire as their under ground wire. Typically 20G wire is used in most all normal soils and is the appropriate choice for the average homeowner. Customers who have very rocky or gravel types of soil may want to upgrade to a 18 Gauge wire as it is more resistant to shifty soils.

Note: Use of 18G wire does not enhance or make a containment system more effective.
