The Electronic Patio Pet Door for Cats is an easy-to-install patio insert option designed for use with your feline friend. The lightweight, durable construction makes this patio insert an extremely versatile option. The insert can easily be fit onto your patio track by using the adjustable, spring loaded H-panel located at the top of the patio door. Simply loosen the knobs and adjust the H-panel as necessary and set your insert in place. Once in place, release the H-panel and tighten it when it is at the desired height. No hardware or tools are necessary, and the insert can easily be removed at a moment's notice.

The pet door on this patio insert is operated by the use of magnetic collar tags (a collar tag is required to enter the house - no collar tag is needed to exit). The exterior side of the pet door features a unique design that helps deter raccoons and other nuisance animals from lifting the flap to gain entry to the house. A 9-volt battery is used with the door; the collar tags do not require batteries.

Ordering Note: This unit ships in two separate packages. Some simple installation with a screwdriver is required.

Custom Extension Example The "Custom" sizes listed above use a custom extension piece that mounts on top of the patio insert to reach the height of your patio opening, allowing for a 3" range of expansion.

The top spring-loaded adjusting section of the Ideal Patio Pet Doors appears as an "H" piece when viewed from the side. The overall width of this piece is 13/16" (Will fit into most any sliding glass door track). The spring-loaded adjustment provides for a 2 1/2" range for proper fitting into your opening. Most top tracks in sliding glass doors do not have any center rails, however, if you do have this feature then the Ideal Patio Pet Door can straddle any rail at the top 5/8" wide or narrower. The spring-loaded top is secured with 2 thumbscrew locks, accessible from inside the house only, so that someone from the exterior of the house would not be able to compress or remove the unit.		The bottom section of the Ideal Patio Pet Door has an overall width of 5/8". A semi-circle, "C" channel is centered and runs the length of the bottom. This "C" channel is design to straddle the center rail in the channel on the floor that your sliding glass door follows. By straddling this center rail, the Ideal Patio Pet Door will remain centered to the frame of your sliding door when closed to this unit. Note: If the center rail in the channel on the floor is wider than 5/16", then this patio Insert will not be able to straddle it and as a result may not fit properly in your opening.
Adjustable Height Range: The top section of the Ideal Patio Pet Door floats on two tension rods that compress or expand to obtain the best possible fit in the patio door frame. The top is fit into the upper patio slider track and the bottom rests on the bottom slider track. Once in place, there are two thumb bolts that lock the top section into place to prevent the Patio Pet door from being removed from the outside. How Does My Sliding Door Lock? Each Patio Pet Door comes with a locking pin mechanism that can be attached to your sliding door. We strongly suggest bracing the door with a stick or an adjustable brace bar; as this immobilizes your slider and is the most effective way to secure your sliding door. Extensions for "Custom" Ranges: Ideal makes 3 different height ranges of patio pet doors: Regular, Shorty & Tall. For customers who have a slider height that falls between these ranges, we have custom extensions available to accommodate any patio door height from 75" to 106" tall. These extensions slide in at the top of the insert, and some customers use a couple of screws to stabilize the extension piece. (See picture in chart below for custom extension piece) Different Ways to Install the Patio Pet Door: The Ideal Patio Pet Door can be mounted on the stationary side of the patio door. Many patio doors have stoppers that normally prevent the stationary panel from moving, but if these stoppers can be removed, the stationary panel can be moved to accommodate the patio panel. Note: This technique will not work on patio doors where the stationary panel is molded into the frame. Draft Stopper / Weather Stripping: The draftstopper is a wide vinyl weather stripping section that attaches to the backside of your sliding door. When an insert is installed, your sliding door breaks the seal between the slider and fixed panel. This weather stripping will seal out any drafts. Each Patio Pet Door comes with a foam bumper so your slider will gently rest against the Patio Pet door. This foam bumper will also help to seal out drafts and bugs.

Ideal Pet Patio Pet Door Installation Instructions

Release automatic height adjustment by turning knobs located near the top of the panel counter-clockwise and pressing. Height adjustment panel should fully extend upward (pull upon the panel if necessary).Open sliding glass/screen door insert panel with knobs facing inside. Place top edge into top track of sliding glass/screen door. Lift up and swing lower portion of panel either onto ridge, in bottom inside track or screen track.

Slide the panel against door jamb and make sure that top is fully extended, not tilted to one side.

Hand-tighten knobs by turning clockwise to lock the panel in place.
To permanently install, you may screw through the aluminum fins that protrude on the existing frame of your door. Drill through the fins into the panel. Install two screws in the top and two in the side by the bottom of the panel. Do not put any screws into the frame by the glass as breakage may occur.
Optional permanent placement for fixed panel sliding door. Remove screws that hold fixed glass panel in place and slide over. Insert the panel and re-fasten fixed glass panel.
Installing Security Lock (Optional)

With sliding door in closed position, place lock in desired location and bolt in the retraced position, pointed toward the sliding glass door or stationary window rail. Leave approximately 1/8” clearance between bolt tip and aluminum rail.
Holding lock firmly in place, mark screw holes and center of bolt in rail of sliding door or stationary window.
Drill two 5/32” holes for mounting screws and a 3/8” hole for locking bolt. Caution: Do not drill into glass.
With sliding door in the closed position (with patio door installed), mark position for second set of holes.
Repeat above instructions Caution: Do not drill into glass.

Weather Stripping Placement

There are two pieces of weather stripping included in this package. A thin, wide draft-stopper with an adhesive strip that attaches to the back side of the sliding door that extends to the glass of the fixed window.
The other thin piece of weather stripping is the foam bumper, also with an adhesive backing, it attaches to the panel to provide a better seal when the sliding door closes against the panel.

Push Pin Lock Included: We strongly suggest chocking the door with a stick as this immobilizes your slider.
Installation: Most customers install next to the sliding door. Can be mounted on the fixed side of the slider. Some fixed windows are molded in and for those, this will not work. Others, have stoppers either in the bottom or top track that keep the fixed side stationary. If you remove the stoppers, you can pull out the fixed side far enough to accept the patio insert.
Electronic Pet Door: The pet door on this patio insert features an electro-magnetically controlled locking mechanism that is trigged by the use of collar tags. Two collar tags are included with your purchase (additional collar tags may be added). A collar tag is required to enter the house only - no collar tag is needed to exit.
