The Ideal Electronic cat door
is made only for cats. The unlock mechanism is triggered by the
collars tags close proximity to the base area of the pet opening. Cats
when using this collar tend to bend over lower and successfully trigger
the unlocking mechanism whereas dogs do do not bend over as much. For
this reason the door activates reliably when cats use it and so not
reliably when dogs attempt to use the product.
This
pet door has a generous 7"w x 9"h opening that can accommodate any size
cat. The electronic lock on this door controls action going into the
house where there is no access control when leaving the house. The
collar worn by the cat does not require any batteries; and the door
itself uses a 9-volt battery to enhance the unlocking activation. The
door also has a 3-way manual locking feature that can be used in manual
mode (Without collar tags). This is often used when acclimating a cat
to a collar or a door for the first time. The flap is made of
unbreakable Lexan and carries a limited lifetime warranty.
The door should be mounted so that the collar tag worn by your pet will touch the bottom of the opening.
