Infrared Series Patio Insert

      The Infrared Series Patio Pet Doors use the popular Staywell Infrared pet doors to help regulate and control their pet access and restrict the entry of outdoor pests.  The Infrared triggering mechanisms of the doors have proven to be more reliable than most other magnetic or electro-magnetic pet doors.  "infrared" is simply using a light source for activating the locking door.  This is why these doors require power and the collar tags do require batteries. (Tags are water resistant, not water proof and completely safe for any pet).

The Staywell Infrared Cat Flap (500) is designed for cats.  Some customers have had success using this door with toy breeds, but the manufacturer recommends it be used for cats.  This door controls access in ONE direction.  The locking device will allow only cats with the IR tag to enter, but any pet can exit the house.  For this reason it is not a good choice for customers who may have two cats and only one is allowed to go outside.

Both of these doors are capable of being used with any number of collar tags, but they must be the same color as these doors are color coded.  That way if your neighbor has the same product, your pets can have different color tags.

The top spring-loaded adjusting section of the Patio Pet Door appears as an "H" piece when viewed from the side.  The overall width of this piece is 13/16" (Will fit into most any sliding glass door track). The spring-loaded adjustment provides for a 2.5" range for proper fitting into your opening.  Most top tracks in sliding glass doors do not have any center rails, however, if you do have this feature then the Insert can straddle any rail at the top 5/8" wide or narrower. The spring-loaded top is secured with 2 thumbscrew locks, accessible from the interior only, so that someone from the exterior of the house would not be able to compress or remove the unit.

The bottom section of the Ideal Patio Pet Door has an overall width of 5/8".  A semi-circle, "C" channel is centered and runs the length of the bottom.  This "C" channel is design to straddle the center rail in the channel on the floor that your sliding glass door follows.  By straddling this center rail, the Ideal Patio Pet Door will remain centered to the frame of your sliding door when closed to this unit. Note:  If the center rail in the channel on the floor is wider than 5/16", then this patio Insert will not be able to straddle it and as a result may not fit properly in your opening.
