On the Single Flap model; the flap is positioned towards the exterior of the opening for optimal weather protection (Unlike other cheaper models).  The dual flap models are the most popular as they provide a nearly perfect seal to the outdoors. They provide a superior insulating barrier and protection from weather and temperature.  One flap is mounted to the inside, one is mounted to the outside; each swing and seal independently and perfectly.

• Height and width measurements of your cut dimension(hole) is used to fabricate the door.
  The pet opening will be 2" smaller in width and height than your rough cut (hole) dimension.
  For instance, if your existing hole measures 14" wide x 20" tall, the actual pet opening will be 12" wide x 18" tall. This is true for door and wall mounts. (Actual variance is less 2" in width and 1 11/16th in height)
