The PetSafe Classic pet door is a good quality, utility pet door that has a durable, aluminum frame and a flexible vinyl flap. The pet door
is an excellent solution for applications where the mounting surface is
very thin (i.e. storm doors). The aluminum frame and replaceable flaps
makes the PetSafe Classic a long-lived pet door. This pet door is
available in either a white or an aluminum frame color, and has a
slide-in, thermo-plastic locking panel that allows you to close off the
pet door.
PetSafe Classic Pet Door Installation Instructions (included - with product)
Insure that all parts are accounted for.
Step 1) Mark a horizontal line on the door at the height of your - pets back.

Step 2) Draw an intersecting line vertically, half the width of - your door.
Step 3) Aligning the horizontal and vertical drawn lines with the - indentations on the template, secure it into place. Be sure that the inside of
- the template is at least 3 inches from the bottom of the door.

Step 4) Remove the hinge pins by using a flat screw driver and - tapping upward. If the hinge pin does not come out easily, you may need to tap
- the screw driver with a hammer to loosen them.
Step 5) Lay the door so that - it is level using sawhorses or a suitable workbench. This step may require
- assistance from a friend or family member.

Step 6) Using a pencil, mark around the inside of the template and - also the four mounting screw holes.
Step 7) Using a 5/16” drill bit, drill - through the door at a 90 degree angle.
Step 8) At each corner drill a pilot hole with a 1/2” drill - bit.
Step 9) With a jig saw, cut from corner to corner until the entire space - for your pet door is removed. You may wish to use masking tape on the runners of
- your jig saw to prevent the marring of your door’s finish.

You can test fit the outer frame of your pet door for fit. If it - will not fit, use a wood file to remove the high spots until your pet door can
- be inserted.
Step 10) After applying a bead of caulk around the outside - frame, slide the two halves of the frame together through the hole in the
- door.

Step 11) With a Phillips head screw driver, tighten the screws - into the provided grommets, making sure not to over-tighten. The grommets should
- be on the outside of the door while the screw heads are on the inside.

Last step) Sit back and enjoy the freedom of Rex (or Felix) taking - a break at their own leisure! If your pet seems reluctant to use the pet door at
- first, don’t worry. Sometimes taping the flap open and offering a treat does
- just the trick.

When it is time for bed or vacation, simply slide the access panel - into place by pulling out the pin.
