The PetSafe QuickFit Pet Door is a rugged, plastic-framed pet door that comes in three sizes. The slide in security panel is made of plastic. This door "self-frames" the cut through the door.
PetSafe Quickfit Installation InstructionsInsure that all parts are accounted for. Step 1) Mark a horizontal line on the door at the height of your - pets back.
 Step 2) Secure the top of the provided template to your door 2 - inches above the line for your pets back. The bottom of the template should not
- be less than 3 inches from the bottom of the door.
Step 3) Remove the hinge - pins by using a flat screw driver and tapping upward. If the hinge pin does not
- come out easily, you may need to tap the screw driver with a hammer to loosen
- them.
Step 4) Lay the door so that it is level using sawhorses or a - suitable workbench. This step may require assistance from a friend or family
- member.
Step 5) Mark around the outside of the template and mark the center - of the plus at each corner. Remove the template.
Step 6) Using a ½ inch drill bit, drill a hole at each - corner.
Step 7) With a jig saw, cut from corner to corner until the entire - space for your pet door is removed. You may wish to use masking tape on the
- runners of your jig saw to prevent the marring of your door’s finish.
You can test fit the outer frame of your pet door for fit. If it - will not fit, use a wood file to remove the high spots until your pet door can
- be inserted.
Step 8) Slide the two halves of the frame together through the - hole in the door.
Step 9) Using a Phillips head screw driver, attach the two halves - of the pet door together. Be sure not to over-tighten. The shorter screws are
- used for doors up to 1 ¼ inch thick while the longer screws will accommodate
- doors to 1 ¾ inches thick.
Last step) Sit back and enjoy the freedom of Rex (or Felix) taking - a break at their own leisure! If your pet seems reluctant to use the pet door at
- first, don’t worry. Sometimes taping the flap open and offering a treat does
- just the trick.
