Security Boss Standard Guillotine Kennel Dog Door
Comes with a 1/4" thick (HDPE) mildew and mold resistant guillotine door. The Standard Panel door's side rail extrusions have staggered channels that can be upgraded at any time with the Security Boss Insulated Panel.
The 1/4" HDPE panel that comes with the Standard panel is machined to provide for a better seal/fit that reduces drafts and energy loss.
Each guillotine door comes with a replaceable Floor Cap that is affixed to the bottom of the guillotine panel to help provide a weather tight seal at the bottom of the door. The side rail extrusions are the most durable and toughest in the industry. The side rails also have a larger adjusting slot to make the install of these doors very easy.
Security Boss Kennel Door Installation Instructions
(Insulated and Standard Models)
Please follow these directions for installing your new Insulated or Standard kennel door.
A SAFETY REMINDER!
Always wear eye protection and gloves when appropriate.
Security Boss Kennel Doors are intended to be installed over existing kennel opening passages. If you do not currently have an opening, be sure to follow local building codes in cutting and framing your specific application.
Each Security Boss Kennel Door comes with a replaceable bottom cap that can also be reattached should it become dislodged. This is done by slightly compressing the shape of the cap to fit snugly onto the panel. This is best done by hand to avoid over compressing. Insulated panels have a similar top cap that can be reattached in the same manner.
Installing the Vertical frame rails in wood, drywall, or masonry:
1. Position each frame rail on either side of the pet opening with the sliding panel in place. Be sure there are no obstacles in the vertical travel of the sliding panel. The non-insulated panel fits in the channel closest to the wall; the insulated panel fits in the channel furthest from the wall. Be sure that the sliding panel is resting completely within the channel.
2. Level one of the frame rails vertically with a hand held 2 or 4 foot level. Mark the center of each of the three slots in the frame mounting flange with a pencil. Remove the sliding panel and frame rail and set aside.
3. In each of the three marks that you made in step 2 above, drill a 5/32 hole approximately 1.5deep. Push or tap into place the plastic screw molly (included with your door) into each hole.
4. Install the frame rail with the channels facing the opening by attaching the screws through the three slots and into the plastic molly. Do not tighten completely at this point.
5. Insert the sliding panel into the frame rail. Then put the second frame rail into position on the opposite side.
6. Level the second frame rail vertically with a hand held 2 or 4 foot level. Mark the center of each of the three slots in the frame mounting flange with a pencil. Set the second frame rail aside.
7. In each of the three marks that you made in step 6 above, drill a 5/32 hole approximately 1 1/2 deep. Push or tap into place the plastic screw molly (included with your door) into each hole.
8. Install the second frame rail with the channels facing the opening by attaching the screws through the three slots and into the plastic molly. Do not tighten, completely at this point. Be sure the panel is resting completely within the channel.
9. The sliding panel should move freely vertically within its channel. If it does not, adjust the Kennel door by loosening one of the frame rails. Move the rail away from the edge of the sliding panel approximately 1/8”. Use the level to be sure that the frame rail is vertical. Re tighten the rail to the wall. Check the other frame rail with the level to be sure the rails are parallel.
10. Use the included hardware to attach the cable to the panel. The non-insulated panels have a durable mounting hole in the HDPE. Loop the PVC covered cable through this hole and secure with the included cable clamp. The insulated panel has a durable eye-bolt. Loop the cable through the eye-bolt and secure with the cable clamp. Be sure to position clamp such that it does not rub on the wall.
11. Install a Pulley/Eye bolt assembly directly over the top/middle of the sliding panel, beyond the travel distance of the sliding panel. This will assure smooth operation. Use a second Pulley/Eye-bolt assembly to position the cable in a convenient location for opening. Affix the optional handle to the end of the cable opposite the Kennel Door.
12. Your Kennel door is now installed.
